Always cover-up if you are not dancing. Always make sure to hide your "lady". Never speak poorly of
another dancer or group. Always be supportive of your sisters.
Packing
I've noticed when travelling to different venues the amount of baggage belly dancers have. They are
always amazed that I show up with one small rolling suitcase, a plastic shoulder bag, my laptop
bag and a sword. I'm set for the weekend! I'm going to share my packing tips and urge you to
forward your own!
Plastic bag:
I love this bag, it was a gift from sharif (www.sharifwear.com). It's an over the shoulder bag with a
divider that came with a makeup bag that I pack all my toiletries, makeup supplies & downie wrinkle
releaser/static guard in. If something spills you just rinse it out!
My Suitcase:
I perform cabaret, tribal and fusion pieces. The majority of my costumes are satin, chiffon skirts,
choli's and bra's belts. The great thing is that most of it is wrinkle free so I can fold it up, toss it in a
gallon ziplock bag and when I pull it out, no wrinkles! To make it easier for restaurant gigs I put one
outfit in its own bag to make it easier during my costume changes. Top, skirt & belt are all in one
bag, toss it back in when done and voila! less space is taken up! For my cabaret beaded bra's/belts
I lay those in the bottom of my suitcase and pack the bags on top. My veils are folded and placed in
a bag. I separate my jewelry into a "silver" bag and a "gold" bag. You can use sandwich bags to
separate earrings from bracelets and necklaces. These are put in the zipper portion for easy
access.
Plan ahead what you plan to wear and ONLY pack what you are going to use!
