| My first exposure to belly dancing was at a women’s retreat in 1982. I was totally amazed with the music, the “shiny” costume, and the fluid movements. My attraction varied from music, costumes, and it’s graceful and unique movement. Why did I begin belly dancing? Why not!!! I wanted to bring something new into my life, something for me! I am not sure where my dancing will take me, but so far it has been a positive learning experience! I began dancing in July 2004 with Carenza bint Asya. I have always enjoyed music and dancing of all types.Dancing gives you freedom, releases stress, and listening to the music energizes you! By working under Carenza, she has taught me so much of the history and the cultural aspect of the art of belly dancing. |
