Elizabeth Welcomes you!
Elizabeth became interested in belly dance in 2002, when she remembered an
encounter with a belly dancer from her childhood.  This inspired her to learn
more about belly dance which in turn inspired her to search for a teacher.  She
studied for one year with Chicqiela Elbert from Alexandria and began studying
in October 2004 with Carenza.  Elizabeth joined the Caravan in May.

Elizabeth began dancing as soon as she could walk.  Her background involves
jazz, tap, gymnastics , lyrical, and 90’s hip-hop (which often finds its way into
her solos).  She is also active in the local theater community, and has been
trained since the age of 12 in public speaking. These experiences come in
handy for her role as the spokeswoman for Carenza’s Caravan.  In her spare
time she enjoys helping with her youth group at church.  She is currently a
student at Ball State.

"Belly dance has truly become a way of life for me.  Not only has my self
esteem gone way up, but I find that I am less judgmental of other women.  I
no longer feel the pressure of living up to a societal standard of beauty, and I
encourage all women (and men, for that matter) to explore the experiences
that belly dance can afford.  It has truly changed my life for the better."
